Historic Divinity: Notting Hill by Olivia Williams Studio

A stunning historical restoration from Los Angeles-based designer Olivia Williams, this Notting Hill home is brimming with refined luxury wrapped in history.

An expansive, seven-story Grade II listed historic property located in Central London. Spectacular original features have been allowed to shine in this updated elegant family home, while every detail from custom wallpaper to reupholstered vintage furniture was deeply considered to create a lasting and personal impression.

The muddy cream walls are the perfect backdrop to the tonal play of whites and creams throughout the home. The historical elements, such as the crown mouldings, coffers, arches, and artwork, balance the curated modern furniture.

I believe that we have a relationship to the things we surround ourselves with, not in a materialistic way, but in the sense that objects have stories to tell. Antiques and furnishings have their own history: there is the person or people that made it, the artistry that goes into it, the hands it has passed through, and the lives it has seen.

The home exudes glamour while remaining approachable. In the brief, Olivia Williams stated that the home was to be a family home first and foremost, with hardy finishes intended to take the daily wear of family life. Although all the white upholstery may not be the most practical for a family home, you have to admit it looks damn beautiful. The sage green in the bunk room is great - a shining example of how to green your home.
