Cabin Refresh

In early spring I was asked by a new client to help them refresh their cabin. They wanted something that referenced the cabin's age and some of their existing mid-century furniture. Another request was red exterior trim for the doors and windows, I appreciated their desire for colour and some boldness.

The cabin has two small bedrooms that open up to the main living/dining area. I suggested painting each bedroom a different colour (on all walls of course - accent walls are dead to me) to create depth of the space as you look into them from the sitting room. The clients asked for an overall cabin appearance that was "instagram-able"so it was recognizable on Airbnb (the cabin is a work in progress, it will hopefully be available for rent by the Spring). Starting from the red and blue palate they had in mind we created a layered look with shades of red, blue, and soft grey tones. This was balanced with hints of yellow and layers of pattern. The fabrics below are from Maxwell Fabrics, intended to be used for upholstery on two vintage mid-century chairs, custom roman shades, custom curtains for closets, and a few pillows. As per my current modus operandi the paint selections are from Farrow & Ball, the pigments in their paints make them truly magical in changing light.
